Trudy Yorrs was born in Oklahoma in the rural part of town and grew up in California. Her hobbies are drawing , oil painting, writing poetry, writing funny children stories and reading non-fiction. She likes to watch National Geographic, and the History Channel. In her younger years she traveled all over the U.S. Her heritage is Irish, English and German. When she was a child her father played the Irish Fiddle, and she would dance the Irish Jig.
She has written many poems and children stories, but never had them published. She would read them to me when I was growing up and she read these stories to her grandchildren.
I was born and raised in Southern California. My hobbies are drawing, acrylic painting, writing poetry, sewing, and beadwork. I grew up listening to my Grandfather play Irish Fiddle. Writing Nature poetry, and children stories are my current hobbies. I like to go camping, nature walks, bird watching, and photography. The birds and bats I encountered over the years made me become a bird watcher. My bird and bat experiences have been interesting. I have many true bird poems you will find interesting. It all started when I made friends with a blue jay in my backyard. He would bounce around, and make eye contact with me. I would whistle back. We were good friends. Then weeks later, at night I would hear a strange sound, of course, not being a bird watcher, I had no idea what it was. I was curious but, went back in the house and went to sleep. One evening I came home, and my sons and I got out of the truck and shut the doors. I heard that sound again. So, I told the boys listen. I made the same call back. We looked up in the tall eucalyptus tree, out came two white barn owls. At the same time the two owls flew together side by side, they came low enough and circled around me and my sons. Both white owls looked at me in the eye as they flew gracefully by at eye-level, and went back up in the tree. Wow, the experience made me feel in --awe.
Seeing those two Barn Owls flying side by side was an inspiration to me. I decided to write Nature Poetry. I have had a few more experiences after that with birds if you read my poetry. Writing poetry is a family tradition. Growing up camping, hiking in caves and other wonderful places, and fishing in different States. Working and writing my poetry on the side has been a challenge. |

In our poetry book Mother Nature is like my mom and her personality. We have different viewpoints. Our Nature Poems are a unique blend of our Irish and English Heritage. I have a few more Heritages to add to the mix. French, Cherokee, and Swedish, which makes an interesting viewpoint in my Nature poetry. I am likened to Daughter Spring.
Mother Nature tends to be harsh at times in her old age and yet loving and kind. We together have many friends of various cultures and ethnic groups and we both believe in World Peace. We both are concerned about Global Warming and our Environment and anything we can do to help we do it.
May Peace be in your hearts and may you enjoy our poems.
To your health.
